Sally Lunn Bun Recipe

The version that I’ve made was borne of experimentation and picking bits and pieces from various recipes and brioche recipes (which can be a bit more trouble). It is rich, buttery and light and like they say the best Sally Lunn buns are, good with either sweet or savoury toppings. I was reminded of the Sally Lunn buns

Sally Lunn Buns (Recipe Inspired by THE OTHER BENNET SISTER) – A Well-Read Tart

Bake the Sally Lunn buns. Preheat the oven to 400 deg F. Prepare an egg wash by beating together 1 egg and a splash of water. Use a pastry bush to brush the egg wash over the buns. The egg wash will give a shiny, golden crust. Transfer the baking sheets to the oven and bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until the buns are well browned.

Heat to lukewarm, stirring to soften/melt the butter. Pour the mixture into a mixing bowl, and let it cool until it’s below 120°F, about 15 minutes. Weigh your flour; or measure it by gently spooning it into a cup, then sweeping off any excess. Add the lemon or vanilla, salt, 2 cups of the flour, the eggs, and yeast.
